Product Review: Uppababy Vista V2 Stroller Review
The thing I was looking forward to the most about baby gear was pushing a stroller! When I was pregnant, I would stay up at night watching stroller review videos on YouTube, and was on a first name basis with the Buy Buy Baby employees since I went in there regularly to test out strollers (and because I’m terribly indecisive). The amount of strollers and baby gear available is overwhelming, and even when you do decide, a lot of the strollers are offered in a variety of colors! So. Many. Choices.
Update 2023: We bought our stroller at Buy Buy Baby in 2021, so this post is written based on our experience a few years ago. From what I’ve heard, Buy Buy Baby is now going out of business, so you can purchase this stroller from Nordstrom, Amazon, Pottery Barn Kids, Dillards, Crate&Kids, or directly through Uppababy. It also looks like the color options may be different now, too.
Investment
This stroller is currently $999.99. We were able to score it 15% off with the Buy Buy Baby registry completion discount, however since they are rumored to be going out of business I’m not sure if this still applies. I did not find any discounts elsewhere. However, the exact stroller we have does periodically go on sale on Amazon! Last week I saw it for $799 ($200 off!!)
Some of the strollers I was deciding between were the Uppababy Vista, Uppababy Cruz, Nuna MIXX, Nuna Demigrow, and Mockingbird strollers.
I ultimately decided on the Uppababy Vista V2 stroller in the Bryce White color (and love it!) and here are my main reasons:
It is high quality. It is made with high quality materials and has high ratings!
I really liked the design: we decided on the Bryce (white) color that has a lux & elegant look. I was worried it would get dirty, but we have had it for nearly 2 years now and it has held up amazingly well! I loved all of the color options, it was so hard to decide.
I would recommend getting a gender neutral color (but you do you) just something to consider if you’re going to be using it for multiple kids. Sometimes you can find speciality colors like green on sale.
The leather handle color will depend on what color you choose. They come in dark leather, caramel leather, and black leather. If you’re picky about what leather that will help narrow down your choices. I would recommend feeling the materials in store – they don’t all feel the same.
The modular stroller functions were a big deciding factor for me. I loved how easy it was to clip in a car seat, clip in the bassinet and take it off, clip on the seat and turn it the other way.
The ability to convert to a double stroller was a big factor! When asking around to people I knew who had kids, the feedback was that they wish they had gotten a double stroller to begin with, instead of having to buy another stroller to accommodate 2 kids. That was why I ultimately decided against the Uppababy Cruz and Nuna MIXX, as they are both single strollers.
5. I love how much storage it has. It can hold my diaper bag & LV purse, is perfect for shopping and storing jackets & blankets in the huge basket.
6. It comes with a bassinet. I didn’t think we would need the bassinet, but I was wrong! We ended up using this for our son to sleep in overnight the first few weeks of his life and for strolls until he outgrew it.
Where to buy the Uppababy Vista stroller
(Updated in 2023) it looks like this stroller is available at Nordstrom, Amazon, Pottery Barn Kids, Dillards, Crate&Kids, or directly through Uppababy since Buy Buy Baby is rumored to be going out of business. I would recommend going into the store and seeing them in person multiple times. Go in and stroll it around the store, fold it up, lift it, see how heavy it is, practice taking the seat off, look at all the color swatches, etc.
When deciding on a stroller, here are some things to keep in mind and questions to ask yourself when you evaluate your decision:
Price – The Uppababy Vista is a luxury stroller. How much do you want to spend? Is someone buying this as a gift for you? Keep in mind that you will probably use the stroller for years and years, especially if you plan to have multiple kids. The Uppababy Vista is one that is high quality and will stand the test of time! Aka – it’s worth the investment if you’re going to use it!
Budget: If you are looking for a more budget-friendly option, the Mockingbird is a dupe of the Uppababy (currently priced at $450). Here is a review I found helpful comparing the two.
You could also check out Facebook Marketplace or local Facebook moms pages for a used version.
Lifestyle – Where do you live? In the city, country, or suburbs? If you’re going to be in the suburbs, going to the mall, the zoo, or the park, the Uppababy Vista is the perfect stroller for you! Are you living in a big city where you are hopping in taxis or subways often? A more compact stroller may be best for you.
Weight – Are you going to be lugging it around? Do you want a super light weight stroller or does the weight matter to you? The Uppababy Vista is definitely bulky and takes up a decent size space in my trunk. Make sure your vehicle is compatible and you’re ok with the weight. Some moms find it too heavy!
Multiple kids? Twins? – If you are planning to have kids close in age, I would definitely recommend the Uppababy Vista. Otherwise, you might need to buy a double stroller after having your second baby down the line. If you are having twins, the Bugaboo Donkey side by side stroller would be great!
Style – Do you care what it looks like? Color? Leather details?
Compatibility – Do you have a car seat you want to clip into it? Make sure you research to see what is compatible with your stroller, or if you can buy an adapter to make it compatible. We have the Nuna Pipa car seat that we used with an adapter to fit our Uppababy Vista stroller. I highly recommend this combo! Check out my car seat review here.
My ONLY criticism is I wish there was somewhere to put my phone. There is a pocket in the basket, but you have to bend all the way down to grab your phone. I wish there was somewhere by the handlebar or on top of the seat to put your phone. I mostly need this when I am going on a walk around the neighborhood and listening to a podcast. We used to have the Skiphop stroller organizer, but it slipped too much & I spilled a can of Diet Coke inside and it got all sticky so we threw it away…so I will wear my Lululemon belt bag on a walk to put my phone and Airpods in it. It’s not a huge deal, but it’s my one criticism.
Attachments
The two attachments we bought in addition to the stroller and adapter were the snack tray and cup holder.
Uppababy Vista vs Uppababy Cruz
The main difference between the Vista and Cruz is that the Cruz is a single stroller and cannot be converted to a double stroller. It is also smaller in size. See the pictures below I took at Buy Buy Baby (2020 or 2021)
Uppababy Vista vs Uppababy Cruz vs Nuna MIXX
I was ultimately deciding between 3 strollers: Uppababy Vista, Uppababy Cruz, and the Nuna MIXX. These are some of the most popular strollers on the market today and are top of the line in safety, quality, features, and style. They are all great strollers (you can’t go wrong!) but I decided to go with the Uppababy Vista out of the three.
***Prices & details were at the time this blog post was written in 2020/2021. Interestingly, the price went down by $100 on the Vista since the time I first wrote this post.
Travel
We do not bring our Uppababy when we travel. Instead, we bring our lightweight travel stroller linked here. Since this is a more expensive stroller, I do not trust the baggage handlers to not break the stroller. You could purchase this travel bag that Uppababy “insures” however it is $200. Instead, we bought a $50 travel stroller that we don’t care if it gets dinged up and is the perfect size to take through the airport.
Our airline lost our stroller one time that we had gate checked, so it wasn’t a huge deal and we ended up buying another one with the credit they gave us. But if they had lost our Uppababy…mama would not have been happy. I don’t want to risk it, so we don’t bring it, but sometimes I wish we had it at our destination. You have to decide what’s best for your family.
Deciding on a stroller is no easy task. Hopefully this helps and gives some food for thought if you are going through it right now! If you have any more questions, feel free to shoot me a message on my Instagram!
