How to get FREE baby products & discounts!
Are you an expecting mom looking to save money on baby products?
Did you know that many retailers offer free welcome bags and registry completion discounts to expecting moms?
Here’s what you can get:
– Free welcome bags with samples
– Registry completion discounts (discounts on anything left on your registry after a certain date)
In order to get these, I created separate registries at each of the places below and put the registry on private so no one (but me) could see it. I used Babylist as my main registry that I sent out to friends and family for my showers. The rest I created solely for the purpose of the free welcome bags and discounts and put them on private.
In this post, I’ll show you exactly how to get these free items from Target, Amazon, Buy Buy Baby, and Walmart.
Step 1: Create a registry at each of these places.
Download the Target registry app and click on “Offers & Coupons” to access a barcode for the free welcome bag. Call ahead to the Target store first to see if they have it in stock. My store did not have it in stock, so there was an option to have it shipped (with $35 worth of other purchases). If they do have it, go to the customer service desk and they will scan the barcode and give you the bag! The Target bag was my favorite. Pro tip: you can also have your spouse make a private registry and get 2 bags. We may or may not have done that…
Don’t forget to scan the QR code in the pamphlet that comes with the bag, as it contains amazing coupons you won’t want to miss, including a 50% off Starbucks drink and lots of other discounts you won’t find anywhere else. When you scan it, it should automatically load the coupons in your Target Circle app/account.

Target completion discount:
Target offers a 15% completion discount for everything left on your registry. You can use it once in store and once online. They do not limit registry items to baby related items – so go crazy & add anything you want! It has to be on your registry though, before you add it to your cart. You can add furniture, batteries, clothes, kitchen appliances, etc. There are a few limitations like gift cards, alcohol, Legos, Apple products, and some other brands that are excluded. We were able to get a new patio set 15% off! Plus, it happened to be my birthday month so I had an extra 5% Target discount that I combined with the registry discount. Bonus! The completion discount expires 6 months after your expected arrival date.
You have to jump through some hoops to get this one. *You must have an Amazon prime account to redeem this offer* Click here for a free 30-day trial! In order to redeem the Amazon welcome bag, first create a registry. You will then need to complete 80% of items from their checklist (I just clicked “mark as complete” on them all) & then purchase $10 of something from your registry. I added a pack of nursery closet organizers I was already going to buy to qualify. Once you have received that item, you will see a “Redeem Now” button on the welcome box page. Click that and add it to your cart. It may say $35 – don’t pay for it! Follow the instructions on how to redeem the offer & it should show a credit of -$35 in your cart once you have clicked the redeem button.

Amazon registry completion discount:
Amazon offers a 15% completion discount on certain items left on your registry. They are a little more strict on what you can purchase, and not all registry items are eligible. It can be used on up to 2 orders with a combined value of $2000. The discount is good for up to 60 days after your expected arrival date.
Create a registry at Buy Buy Baby and visit the store to get a free welcome bag filled with samples and coupons. You will also be eligible for a completion discount of up to 15% on items in your registry. The Buy Buy Baby welcome bag has to be picked up in person. Go to the customer service desk in the store and show them your registry ID number then they will give you the bag.

Buy Buy Baby Registry Completion Discount:
Buy Buy Baby offers a 15% completion discount. You will receive a completion coupon for use in stores in the mail several weeks before your expected arrival date. You will also receive a second completion coupon for use online in your email a couple of weeks before your expected arrival date. So, be sure to keep your mailing address and email address up to date. This coupon is good on any brand! If you are signed up for their emails they have 20% coupons all the time. But, these coupons are not eligible on brands like Uppababy. On some items it may be better to use the 20% coupon, but on brands that are normally excluded, be sure to take advantage of the 15% off! I waited until I received this coupon to purchase our Uppababy Vista stroller.
Create your Walmart registry first. You will need the URL to type into the form. Then go HERE and order your box! Walmart does not offer a completion discount.

Babylist offers a “free” welcome bag but you have to pay $9 to get it, so I didn’t get that one. Ironically, I used Babylist for my main registry and had the rest on private, but I didn’t want to pay $9 for a “free” sample bag, since the others were truly free.
So there you have it! Go take advantage of these freebies! I also have these saved to my “Freebies” highlight on Instagram along with more deals so make sure to follow me there!
Now that you know WHERE to register, check out my blog post on what to put on your baby registry!
BONUS – I made a sample registry just for you on my Amazon Storefront to give you ideas of what you may need/want to put on yours!
Keep in mind that this post was written in 2020, and some of the retailers’ registry policies may have changed since then. However, these were my experiences, and I hope they can help you save some money on baby products.
