2024 started off a little crazy for our family! After ringing in the new year (we celebrated at 8:00pm for Jett), we woke up around 3 am and headed to DFW airport at 4 am to drop off Spencer.
If you didn’t see the December Newsletter, Spencer got a new job flying private charter jets! He has been away at training nearly all month, and Jett and I have been holding down the fort at home.
Jan 1-9 Spencer was at training in Georgia and Florida.
He came home for a few days and we had so much fun!
I picked him up from DFW airport and we went to lunch at Chuy’s in Southlake before picking up Jett at school. I’m always down for a mid-week-day margarita! 💃🏼
The next day, we dropped Jett off at school and had a day date! First we got Starbucks, then pedicures (and dip nails for me), and then went shopping at Legacy West. We had lunch at Velvet Taco inside Legacy Hall, then finished it off with some Sprinkles cupcakes! 🧁
We had a great few days as a family again, then prepped for the winter storm before Spencer left for California.
January 14-31 Spencer was at training in Carlsbad, CA.
It was tough being alone for that long, and the dreary weather didn’t help at all. I’m ready for Spencer to be home and for some sunshine! I’m proud of myself for surviving 26 days of solo parenting! And really glad it’s over.
Jett’s first movie in the theater!
I took Jett to see the 9:00am showing of Migration at Camp Cinemark! It’s a kid’s theater with fun seats & other parents there, so everyone is understanding if the kids are loud or need to run around. We lasted about 3/4 of the movie, so we didn’t see if the birds made it to Jamaica (Jett was a bit scared of the “bad guys”) but we had fun! I mean, who couldn’t be happy with an Icee & popcorn at 9:00am 🤷🏼♀️
Lots of snuggles & movies on the couch this month since it was *literally* freezing outside!
I tried to make it fun by setting up some blankets & pillows and eating some fun snacks.
Making flashcards for daddy to study – Jett loved helping glue!
Fun at gymnastics. Jett loved jumping into the foam pit, jumping on the trampolines, and flipping on the bar.
The sun finally decided to come out the day before daddy got home! We took Maui and another dog we are dog sitting out on a walk.
The Trust (Netflix)
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (Bravo)
The Bachelor (Hulu)
I recently bought a juice from Clean Juice in Frisco and it was yummy, but almost $9!!! I was shocked at the price and thought – I could make this myself! So I did.
Here’s what you need:
First, juice 2 lemons and 1 pineapple. Set aside (separately)
In a blender, pour 1/2 cup of lemon juice and 1/2 cup of pineapple juice. Add 1 tbsp of agave syrup, 1 scoop of blue spirulina, and 2 drops of Vitamin D (optional). Add water to taste – I ended up adding 16 oz of water to it, but if the taste is too strong, add another 8 oz.
Blend
This should give you 24 oz. I split them into these 8 oz juice containers. If you add more water, you can make 4+ jugs.
This is a great tasting juice (sweet & tart) and a great source of potassium, fiber, protein, iron, vitamin A, C, D & K!
To be honest, I resembled Adam Sandler a majority of this month. January was COLD & brought some influenza B, but on the days I did feel good, I was loving my new Lululemon clothes I got for Christmas, and this comfy top from Aerie!

February is my favorite month: with Valentine’s Day and my birthday, then Jett’s follows shortly after so the celebrations continue! 💖 💖 💖 Pink is my favorite color and I love all the girly girl things February has to bring ◡̈
I unplugged from social media (mainly IG) the month of January and I honestly didn’t miss it. Less mindless scrolling, gave me more time for more creativity, cooking, and IRL connection. We are getting plugged in to a new church and I joined a MOPS group this semester, so I’m excited for new friendships to come and more intentional community!
Spencer’s February schedule is up in the air (pun intended) meaning we don’t know it yet! ✈️ Which, as a planner…is… a bit…infuriating interesting for me, but I will go with the flow! 🤪 But he has a week off before his next training assignment so we are enjoying our time as a family and happy we are all together again!
