Since I was the first of my friends to have a baby, I have a lot of people asking me what they should get for other people’s baby showers! And now that I have had my own baby shower, I feel like I have a better idea of what to get people for theirs.
I spent SO much time making my registry, that I really appreciated it when people purchased something off of it. It showed me that they took the time to look through what I had picked out. But, a lot of people like to do their own thing and get something they like, which is fine too! Remember – any gifts people give you are a bonus and something to be thankful for! That being said, going forward I will try to get at least one thing off of someone’s registry, then something else that is either personalized or something I liked or found useful for my own baby that they might not know about.
If you are going to a baby shower in person, it is best to purchase something off their registry and have it shipped to you so you can wrap it and bring it in person. If you are not able to attend the shower, you can purchase off their registry and have it shipped directly to their home (you don’t need to worry about wrapping it – trust me, they won’t care).
Below I have linked some gift ideas. You can also go in on a larger priced item with friends or family members to split the cost. Baby stuff can be expensive!!!
Personalized gifts (if you know the baby’s name)
Cup/bottle name labels – we have these that say our last name – great for when your little one goes to daycare, school, or church so they don’t get mixed up with other kids’ cups!
Personalized journal – I got one of these with Jett’s picture and am hand writing his birth story and other important information I want to remember. They have a ton of customizations – it’s really fun and would be a great gift!
Name labels – these sticker packs are so fun! I got a pack with Jett’s name on it. They come in varying sizes and would be a great gift too.
Very own name book – our neighbor got us this book for Jett and it’s the cutest! It was the first gift we received that was personalized and was very thoughtful.
Name puzzle – such a cute gift idea – can be used as nursery decor and something the baby can play with down the road!
Diaper bag tags – I found these on etsy and got one with Jett’s name. I loved it so much I bought more for a few of my friends who are expecting (shhh don’t tell them!)
Practical gifts
I would refrain from buying diapers – only because babies outgrow them so fast & you never know if a baby will be allergic to a certain brand. But wipes are always useful & don’t expire (I don’t think). If they have registered for a diaper pail, that would be a great gift, or the refill packs. Our baby goes through 8-12 diapers PER DAY so this may not be a glamorous gift, but it is definitely useful! Burp cloths are also a good gift – these muslin ones are my absolute favorite. (Never thought I would have a favorite burp cloth, but here we are…) Bath gifts are also very useful (tub, toys, towels, etc). Below I linked some of our favorites that we use – but obviously, if your friend has a different brand on their registry, get the one they want! You could pair a practical gift with a cute outfit or toy you pick out, too. If you don’t have much time or absolutely don’t know what to buy, gift cards are always appreciated!

Fun gifts that might not be on their registry
Binxy Baby shopping cart hammock – we have this for Jett and love it so much! If you have ever tried to shop with your infant car seat, you will quickly realize it takes up the entire cart. And if you bring your stroller in, you can’t push a cart too! The Binxy baby is so cute and functional for our Target and grocery runs and we get so many compliments from strangers asking me what it is!
Spearmint Love has the CUTEST onesies for newborns! If I had a girl I would totally buy all the ruffle onesies.
Pacifier holders. I love these – I throw them in my purse & diaper bag so I don’t have loose pacifiers hanging out & collecting bacteria. I like the clear ones so I can see what’s inside without opening it.
Play Mat – This one from Toki Mats is super cute!
Tubby Todd bath gift set
Larger gifts
Higher priced gifts to go in on with a friend/family member: Baby monitors, play gyms, stroller, car seat, etc. With Venmo it’s easier than ever to buy something and have people pay you back!
Lovevery play gym – I had this play gym on my registry because it was recommended to me. It didn’t end up getting purchased from our registry, and we ended up getting one second hand from someone. But this one has rave reviews!
Dockatot – they come in a ton of different colors & patterns! I am definitely getting one of these if we ever have another baby!
Baby monitor – this is the one we have. Obviously get the one your friend wants!
Get creative & add your personal touch! Put together a gift basket, or put your gift in a diaper caddy that’s on their registry. Throw in a book you love, or if you have kids, something you found useful with your baby that the person might not know about. Or if you are short on time, just order something from their registry and have it shipped straight to them! Easy peasy. I hope this post gave you some new ideas on what to get someone for their upcoming baby shower.
